Dr. Travis Van Meter Named a D Magazine Best Doctor in Dallas for 2026

At MTVIR, we spend a lot of time talking about advanced technology, minimally invasive procedures, and finding better ways to treat complex medical conditions.

But at the center of all of that is something much simpler: trust.

That’s why we’re especially proud to share that D Magazine has once again recognized Dr. Travis Van Meter among the Best Doctors in Dallas for Interventional Radiology.

For Dr. Van Meter, this recognition continues a long history of being named among Dallas’ leading physicians. More importantly, it reflects something that matters deeply to us at MTVIR: the confidence of other physicians in the Dallas medical community.

What Makes the D Magazine Best Doctors Recognition Different?

Plenty of awards exist in medicine, but D Magazine’s Best Doctors program is different because the recognition begins with physicians themselves.

Each year, D Magazine invites thousands of licensed Dallas-area doctors to nominate physicians in different specialties. Doctors are asked to consider a simple but meaningful question:

Which physicians would they trust with the care of a loved one?

The nominations are then reviewed by an independent panel of physicians and D Magazine’s editorial team. Licensure, board certification, and professional standing are also verified before the final list is published.

Physicians cannot purchase their way onto the list, and advertising with D Magazine has no influence on the selection process.

That peer-driven approach makes the recognition especially meaningful.

For Dr. Van Meter, it represents not only years of clinical experience, but also the trust and respect he has earned among physicians throughout Dallas-Fort Worth.

More Than 20 Years of Interventional Radiology in Dallas.

Dr. Travis Van Meter has practiced interventional radiology in Dallas for more than two decades.

He is board-certified in diagnostic radiology and fellowship-trained in interventional radiology, with experience spanning the full range of image-guided, minimally invasive medicine.

Throughout his career, Dr. Van Meter has also served in leadership roles including Medical Director of Interventional Radiology for Advanced Imaging and Medical Director of Radiology at Methodist Dallas Medical Center.

But titles and awards only tell part of the story.

What has always driven Dr. Van Meter’s work is finding ways to treat significant medical problems while reducing the physical burden treatment places on the patient.

That philosophy is at the heart of interventional radiology.

Bringing Minimally Invasive Treatment to More Patients.

Interventional radiology uses advanced medical imaging to guide treatments through extremely small access points—often avoiding the large incisions and lengthy recoveries associated with traditional surgery.

At MTVIR, Dr. Van Meter’s areas of particular expertise include:

    • Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) for the treatment of symptomatic uterine fibroids
    • Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE) for men with benign prostatic hyperplasia, or an enlarged prostate
    • Interventional Oncology, including liver-directed therapies such as radioembolization
    • Image-guided vascular and other minimally invasive procedures

These treatments can provide patients with options they may not realize exist.

For women with fibroids, that may mean learning that hysterectomy isn’t always the only treatment path.

For men with an enlarged prostate, it may mean exploring an alternative to traditional prostate surgery.

For patients facing cancer involving the liver, it may mean adding highly targeted, liver-directed therapy to a multidisciplinary cancer treatment plan.

That ability to offer another option is a large part of what makes interventional radiology so powerful.

Advanced Care Without the Typical Hospital Experience.

MTVIR was built around a different model of patient care.
Rather than requiring patients to move between a physician’s office, hospital departments, and outside facilities, MTVIR offers consultations and many minimally invasive procedures within its own state-of-the-art North Dallas center.

That means patients can meet the physician who will perform their procedure, understand their options, and receive treatment in a more personal outpatient environment.

For Dr. Van Meter, that personal connection matters just as much as the technology.

Advanced medicine shouldn’t feel impersonal.

Patients should understand what’s happening, why a particular treatment is being recommended and what they should realistically expect afterward.

Recognition From the Physicians Who Know the Work.

Being named among D Magazine’s Best Doctors is certainly something worth celebrating.

But what makes the honor particularly meaningful is where it comes from.

It’s recognition from fellow physicians—people who understand the complexity of the work and who are asked to consider where they would send someone they care about.

For a physician who has spent more than 20 years treating patients throughout Dallas-Fort Worth, that’s a meaningful vote of confidence.

And for the team at MTVIR, it’s also a reminder of the standard we want to maintain every day.

Advanced treatment.

Thoughtful decision-making.

Personal attention.

And care centered around the person sitting in front of us.

Congratulations, Dr. Van Meter!

We’re proud to congratulate Dr. Travis Van Meter on his continued recognition by D Magazine as one of Dallas’ Best Doctors in Interventional Radiology.

More importantly, we’re grateful to the patients, referring physicians, and medical colleagues who continue to place their trust in Dr. Van Meter and the MTVIR team.

That trust is something we never take lightly.
